This application has three different levels of filtering your friends. The first level identifies Facebook friends that have the potential to be a threat and limited access to view profiles. Second, expanding Facebook's privacy settings based on different usage profiles. This software analyzes your friends on Facebook to distinguish the relations of friendship based on the number of messages sent, pictures that are tagged along, the group that followed and the many friends who belong together.

This application was originally created to detect the presence of pedophiles, but researchers found that these applications can also be used to find people who have fake accounts. Researchers were inspired to make this application after seeing the profiles at several different social networking sites.

"Our application is the opposite of what Facebook wants. The application is called Social Privacy Protector (SPP) and is available in Mozilla Firefox browser to download. Currently, Facebook was reviewing whether the application is fit for use on the site.
